59 to 60 part 5

Well how do we start part 5 it has been very windy cold and we have had snow showers so bike is not an option at the moment, we are in town today as Helen broke her phone so going to get it looked at. Yesterday well that was a day at work and was fine but it was really wild outside i left at 6am and it was bloody freezing 🥶. Well on to today and all i can say is fuckcancer, as you all know what Helen has and is going through i woke up this morning to find out an old friend of ours has started treatment today as well i have known them for years and they are a smashing couple and even though we don’t see them as much well there still great friends and still see them on football days and hopefully this will continue. I obviously don’t want to say to much as it is there battle and a private battle for them and have told them that we are here for them no matter what even if it is a call just to ask few questions as i know it did help me when i spoke to people but all i can say is i wish them all the luck in the world.

I now have a few days off but weather not sounding to great hoping by Thursday i can have a day on the bike, i think i have already said in one of these blogs I don’t mind cycling in the rain but when it is high winds it is just a push and not that enjoyable. My car is in for aa service so maybe later today if all is ok then i shall walk down to pick car up.

                                                                      Arbroath Abbey

So the rest of the day was spent in town and then coffee from costa and then back to pick up car 🚘. Now back home listening to some Radiohead and basically that will be it for today. Looking forward still to the day when shops, museums and bars and restaurants open and getting back to live gigs, i see guns and roses will be playing Glasgow green in 2022 and am tempted and tickets are not that badly priced so am thinking about this and hoping to get friend  to come with me would be good as well. And for night outs it be good to get out with the guys Again fitba and night oots

                                                                           07/04/21

Woohoo happy haircut day and boy i needed it, when i was younger i loved having my hair long it was part of me being into rock music and although i still listen to the same music i much prefer it shorter now.

I had a before picture but it seems to have disappeared since i edited it so can’t out it up but as i say it was good to get it finally chopped and it is good to see hairdressers and barbers open again here is hoping this is the start of everything beginning to settle mm but wont hold my breath. Rest of today was taken up with Helen getting bloods taken and her phone sorted and when i got home decided to cut the grass, aye still a rocknroll life style. So not much else to say for today except hoping to get out on bike tomorrow before i go to hospital to get an X-ray on my arm which is still sore but not as bad as it has been.

                                                                       08/04/21

Well good morning sunshine mm no wait god morning snow mmmm no no wait good morning snow 😂 yup it is that kind of Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 day and the only thing i can say that it is helping me stay of my bike and hopefully helping my tennis elbow but i am chomping at the bit to get some miles int this week but not looking good at the moment, I have an X-ray today at 2-45 then am back at work tomorrow for one day then a few more days off so i am hoping to get some form of exercise in as I don’t like sitting about all the time. I’m sitting in wee room that i have cleared a bit so i can look out on the back garden and i am now thinking i may go out and do a little bit of gardening in between snow showers ❄️ Like getting garden sorted makes it better to look out on and if we get a good summer even better for sitting in enjoying cider and music.

                                                                    A lonely looking bike
So back from hospital after X-ray just matter of waiting on results now, but was seen quickly and was out in time to have a costa coffee, also went to garden centre have a look for few things for garden 🪴 but wind was so strong never bought anything just had a good look, went down to ferry again and had sit at waterfront not much going on there today sand was getting shipped up with strong wind.

So back home now and well not much else to do apart from chill before tea it seems to be the new thing to do during lockdown. Am hoping to get some friends together soon so we can watch smile the Jim McLean story all about his time with Dundee United, i have seen it before at the Rep Theatre but most of my friends never got the chance but you can now stream it so thought it be good to get all us Arabs together with a few beers and watch it here is hoping.

                                                                              10/04/21
Well a grand morning and time to get out on bike mmm but wish i never had that bottle of wine last night stupid really as plan was to finish work get home shower bite to eat then up early for good cycle then maybe bit of the garden, although i can still do this i know am bit later feel bit rough and wonder why oh why do i do this 😂 but hey it’s done now so just have to get out there and work it off.
So good 27 miles today in very changeable weather and at one point very heavy snow which did not lay but boy was a bit of a cold wind with it, i decided to use the Bianchi again today as when i looked out it did look really nice cold but sunny.

But i I looked towards the sidlaws i could see that it was going to change and it sure did as you can see from first two photos cloud was quick to come over and i could see showers ahead and it was to be snow and at times quite heavy snow but did make day more enjoyable and i was not alone as saw few cyclists out. Went along to Carlungie and on to Monikie one of my usual routes avoided big climbs after drinking bottle of wine last night ah well i was enjoying it. Anyway back to cycle 🚲 was great to get back out and even though arm still sore was very tempted to push on to 35miles but was happy to stop earlier.

It is also good to see part of the cycle way at Broughty Ferry is open now as well and looks good as well looking forward to that opening fully.

Back home now and that’s about it for today listening to the football now and team wining 1-0 at the moment hoping they can hold onto this lead. So tonight it will be the usual i may have a wee dram mmm or i may have a beer i just don’t know decisions decisions eah 😂 but it will be another night of tv as well everything still closed but we are gradually seeing things beginning to happen, also spoke to the boys and were all keen to get together and have a beer watch smile and get this banner made for the grumpy Arabs.

                                                                              11/04/21
So today will be mainly a garden and walking day as i hope to do 100miles on my bike before Thursday, it is frosty out but really nice so i thought lets get bit of the garden done woohoo again rocknroll 😂. Had a braw breakfast of a bacon roll and big cup of tea so noe all set to head out and start my day proper.
So was out for couple of hours doing the garden in morning was good to get out and get some fresh air and finally get on top of things in garden. Then we decided to go out for drive this afternoon and there has been this old building that i cycle past quite a lot ( love old buildings) and often thought i would like to take some photos of that so this afternoon this is what we decided to do and it turned out to be a bit of a find mmm aye i know I like taking photos of old buildings. This we discovered was built in 1824 Christ that’s nearly two hundred years ago and it still had a few things inside.

My only problem is I can’t remember name of place but it is close to Duntrune but once i find proper name will put this up. I had a wander around the outside of this building and managed to look threw some of the doors and windows mmm was derelict so was parts i could not go in, but peering threw windows was good enough and in one door saw this really old table and when looked threw two separate windows one had an old singer sowing machine with the main bit missing but did look like it has sat there for a long time.

And as you can see from some of these photos an old stove and fire place as well. I look at these old buildings and think off the history and of the people who actually stayed in these? This old building also had stables attached to it as well also the turret building had an amazing roof almost built like a Crannog the workmanship just amazing.

When you see these building you have to wonder how many houses that are built these days will still be here in fifty years never mind two hundred. So all in all as an amateur photographer a good find and a good day. Now back home and time for tea and then yes you guessed it another night in front f the box.
